	Teaching Specialty
	Dr. Macias' primary teaching interests are advertising research, mass communication research, advertising campaigns/management, psychology of advertising/consumer behavior and interactive advertising.

Research Interests

Dr. Macias' research interests focus on interactive advertising, primarily advertising on the Internet. She is interested in extending the field's understanding of the consumer behavior side of interactive advertising (e.g., comprehension). Her other main interest is health promotions research, particularity direct-to-consumer pharmaceutical advertising and online health communication. She has published her research in the Journal of Advertising, Journal of Current Issues and Research in Advertising, Health Communication, Journal of Health Communication, Health Marketing Quarterly and Journal of Interactive Advertising, as well as an invited journal article and book chapter. In addition, she has presented her work at several advertising and mass communication conferences, including Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication (AEJMC) and American Academy of Advertising (AAA).

	Experience
	Prior to coming to UGA and the Grady College, Dr. Macias worked at IntelliQuest in Austin, Texas. IntelliQuest is a market research company which specializes in high tech products and Internet research. She has also worked as a marketing assistant for a printing company and sales promotion company.
